Visitors to the below countries should bring a:
- Hard copy of a Tourist Visa
- Valid passport which:
- a. At least six months from the date of entry of the last country to be visited
- b. has an empty page for each country to be visited
- c. At least 2 empty pages minimum remaining after all countries have been visited
We recommend you apply for your Tourist Visa at least a month or so from the time of your arrival in each country.
Tanzania:
Tanzania:
Most visitors to Tanzania will need a visa to enter.
In addition, if you are visiting Zanzibar, you will also need to purchase mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance from Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC), via their website Visit Zanzibar. This insurance must be purchased at 44USD per person online BEFORE arriving into Zanzibar. Below is in regards to applying for your visa to Tanzania:
You can apply for your three-month Tourist Visa at Tanzania Immigration Department e-Service
A three-month Tourist Visa for Australians for example is currently priced at ~US$ 50 and is valid for three months.
A three-month Tourist Visa for Americans is ~US$100.
It is recommended that you get your visa BEFORE you arrive into Tanzania as the visa application lines can be long and it can take up to 3 hours.
When applying for your Tanzanian visa, the above website will ask you for some information. We hope below will assist you.

Once you open the visa website click “Visa Application” then “Apply for a new Visa”, fill in Basic Information and then click “Start New Application”
After putting in your passport and personal information, you will move to the page where you have to input information for your visa.
- Select the country where you are applying for your visa from (eg Australia) and then select the Tanzanian Embassy in your country (eg Perth has the Tanzanian Embassy in Australia)
- Select ORDINARY visa if you are coming to Tanzania to visit.
- Select TOURISM in the Purpose of Visit field
- For the travel plans section:
- Select Tanzania mainland if you are flying into Dar es Salaam, Arusha or Kilimanjaro. If you are first arriving into Zanzibar, then select Zanzibar.
- Select your mode of entry. If you:
- Are flying into Tanzania, then you will either fly into Mt Kilimanjaro International Airport or Dar es Salaam International Airport. Arusha is a domestic airport and not an international Airport which is why its not listed as a point of entry into Tanzania.
- are driving from Nairobi, Kenya to Arusha, Tanzania then pick Namanga town as the border town whereby you cross from Kenya to Tanzania.
- For the LOCAL HOST section:

- Flight ticket (to prove you are leaving the country also 😊 NB: Max size allowed is 1meg.
Note that the above documents cannot be large in size, otherwise the website won’t accept the document. If you don’t know how to reduce the size of the document, then email your document to us, so we can help you reduce the size for you and send the document back to you for uploading into the website.

- You will then be sent to a page whereby you check that you have inputted all the information correctly before sending you to a payment page.
NB: If you are worried about the visa not coming out as you had paid for your visa some weeks back, send a copy of your passport and visa Application ID etc so we can follow up with immigration for you here in Tanzania.
Kenya:
As of Jan 2024, visitors to Kenya now need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). This has replaced the old visitor visa system. You can apply for your Kenyan Eta at www.etakenya.go.ke
Currently its ~$34 USD.
Note that if you are driving from Nairobi to Arusha over the road border, the name of the border town you need to put into the ETA is Namanga.
Processing time is at least 3 business days but I suggest applying for it as soon as your plans are confirmed.
It is mandatory that you have your Kenyan ETA BEFORE arriving into Kenya.
Rwanda:
You can apply for your three month Tourist Visa at www.migration.gov.rw
A three month Tourist Visa to Rwanda is currently priced at ~US$ 50.
You do not have to get the visitor visa prior to arrival (as you can get it on arrival if you want). However it is recommended to get it online at above website, prior to arrival, so you don’t have to wait in line once you arrive at the airport.
Uganda:
Tourists Visa’s to Uganda are $50USD and it’s recommended that you apply for your visa at least a month before arrival (it normally takes a week or two for the visa to come out) to save standing in a long line when you are tired from the flight.
The process on how you can get your visa is below.
- Click on https://visas.immigration.go.ug/
- Click “Start new application”
- Accept the Disclaimer
- For field “ Visa or permit type” select Visa
- For field “Category” select “Uganda Ordinary / Tourist Visa”
- For the field “Subcategory” select “Single Entry”
- You will then see a list of supporting documents which it states you MIGHT need. For the tourist visa you only need the following documents:
a. A scanned copy of your Passport’s Biodata page
b. Recent passport picture of yourself
c. Copy of your Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (10 years has been changed to lifetime so any date on your yellow fever certificate is find)
d. Scanned copy of your return ticket (as they want proof that you are intending to leave Uganda after your visit.
NB that the:

- size of each document should be less than 250 KB (email us for help if you don’t know how to make your document to be this small in size so we can assist you)
- Cost of the visa is $50US

8. For the Step 2-Fill in the Form page:
a. Ignore the field “Do you want to associate this Visa to a group? If so:” as this will field will probably not relate to you personally and is an “optional” field to fill in.
b. Fill in all the fields under “Personal data” heading.
c. Fill in all the fields under “Passport data” heading
d. Fill in all the fields under “Other data” heading. Take note that for:
i. “Address in Uganda (person, organization, hotel, travel agency…)” field, please write “Piece of Uganda, Entebbe 0785141199”
ii. “Purpose of visit” field select “tourism”
iii. “Point of entry or where you want to have your visa personalized” select Entebbe
iv. “Enter the duration of stay requested. It shall be within 7 day/s and 3 month/s” input the number of days you want to stay in Uganda for. Note that the number has to be more than 7 days. It is ok to ask for a few more days then you need.
9. For 3 Step 3 of 4: Add documents page you will need to upload the:
a. Scanned copy of your Passport’s Biodata page
b. Recent passport picture of yourself
c. Scanned copy of your return ticket
10. You then submit the application. After submitting your application, you will be given an “Application ID for further reference”. Save that.
11. Pay the $50USD using your credit card. Save your receipt as proof of payment
12. If after a few weeks you have not received your visa, please email us:
a. Application ID number that they gave you when you submitted your visa
b. Proof of payment of the $50USD
c. Copy of your passport
We will then try and help get your visa out.
Zimbabwe:
Most tourists to Zimbabwe need a visa. However, you can get it on arrival. A single-entry tourist visa is currently priced at US$ 30 for Australians. A multi-entry visa (if you are travelling say from Vic Falls, Zimbabwe to Botswana and then coming back to Vic Falls) is 45USD.
