Please read and understand these Terms and Conditions before you book with safaris-R-us Ltd.
Bookings
Clients can make bookings by contacting info@safaris-r-us.com or by visiting the main office located just outside The School of St Jude gates at Moshono, Arusha, Tanzania.
When making a booking please ensure we have all your correct details:
- your full name/s
- nationality
- full address
- email address
- flight arrival and departure details
- your ideas on what you would like to include in your travel itinerary.
Client bookings are accepted on the understanding that the clients appreciate the possible risks inherent in travel and in particular adventurous activities such as trekking, climbing, walking safaris, game driving and diving.
Bookings for persons under eighteen years of age can only be accepted when accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for them.
Tours are firmly booked once 30% of the tour cost has been paid as a deposit. The balance is due at least 60 days before arriving in Tanzania. If the reservation is made within 60 days of departure, the entire amount must be paid at the time of booking.
The price of the tour covers all costs noted in the itinerary and will generally include all expenses in respect of your driver guide and vehicle, meals on safari, accommodation and entrance fees to national parks, game reserves, and conservation area. Price also includes a booking fee which depends on the type of package booked but can be either ~20USD per day per client or 20% on the package price. Tours do not include tips, optional activities not booked prior to traveling, items of a personal nature or meals not specified in the itineraries. Please note that a 2% international bank surcharge has to be charged on top of the safari package price as the Tanzanian bank charges to handle the incoming transfer as well as for giving $US cash out on the Tanzanian side so that we can pay for the various aspects of your trip.
If you are making a booking with us within 2 months of travel, we will really try to carry out your requests, but please understand the difficulties that late bookings can result with regard to obtaining good accommodation, transport, driver guides etc.
Travel
Toyota Land Cruiser, Four Wheel Minibus and Coaches will be provided according to the route and number traveling. The company reserves the right to employ the service of subcontractors.
Accommodation
Land costs are based on double occupancy and are priced per person. A single supplement applies to anyone wishing to have their own room where these are available but cannot be guaranteed.
Hotels/lodges are named as an indication of category and rooms can be reserved at similar hotels/lodges. If a tour or hotel/campsite is fully booked we will try to offer you a similar option. In the unlikely event of accommodation not being available on arrival at a hotel/campsite described and/or confirmed to the client, Safaris R Us undertakes to provide alternative accommodation in a hotel/campsite of a category at least as high as those contracted, if available.
Tipping:
Driver guide: Tipping in Tanzania is like the USA system. Tips for drivers are not included in the safari cost. We suggest at least $10-$15 US per person (client) per day. If the service is good give more, if not adjust your tip accordingly. Generally tips are given at the end of the safari after unpacking the 4WD.
Transfer Driver: $5-10 per group for drivers doing airport or mountain transfers.
Porter/waiters at lodges: $2-$5 US per group upon checking in/out or whilst giving service in the restaurant.

Medical and Health
Participation on a safari or tour to East Africa requires that you be in generally good health. All guests must understand that while a high level of fitness is not required, a measure of physical activity is involved in all African safaris and tours. It is essential that persons with any medical problems and/or related dietary restrictions make them known to us well before departure. Anti-malaria precautions should be taken, and these are the sole responsibility of the client. Safaris R Us will not assume responsibility for the accuracy of any medical information. You should consult your doctor for up to date requirements and personal recommendations.
Inside the parks & reserves:
Please be aware that our safaris may take you into close contact with wild animals. Attacks by wild animals are rare, but no safari into the African wilderness can guarantee that this will not occur. Safaris R Us shall not be held responsible for any injury or incident on the safari. Please note that many safari lodges and camps are not fenced and that wildlife does move freely in and around these areas. Always follow the safety instructions from the lodge or camp staff with regards to moving to and from your tent and while on game activities throughout your safari.
Changes
Airfares are subject to change without notice prior to ticketing. Safaris R Us is not responsible for any airline reschedule or airfare changes, cancellations, overbooking or damage or loss of baggage or property. Any and all claims for any loss or injury suffered on any airline must be made directly with the airline involved. Air schedule changes may necessitate additional nights being added to your tour. These schedule changes are beyond the control of Safaris R Us and any resulting additional costs must be borne by the guest. Safaris R Us shall not be held liable for any delays or additional costs incurred as a result of airlines not running to schedule.
Safaris R Us reserves the right to alter arrangements or cancel the operation of a scheduled tour should conditions necessitate. It also reserves the right to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of any tour at anytime.
Although every effort is made to adhere to an itinerary, it should be noted that occasionally routes, lodges and camps may be changed while on safari due to seasonal rainfall on bush tracks or “airfields” in game areas, by game migrations from one region to another, or airline booking problems. Safaris R Us shall not be held responsible for such itinerary changes. We reserve the right to substitute campsites, hotels and/or lodges and to alter the itinerary should this be considered necessary or advisable.
Compensation payments do not apply to changes caused by reasons of war, riots, civic strike, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural disasters, fire, closure of an airport or port, adverse weather conditions and similar events beyond our control. In such cases Safaris R Us Ltd will have no liability other than to offer you an alternative comparable holiday, if available, or offer a refund of monies paid by you, not including the deposit.
Prices are quoted based on current exchange rates and on-the-ground prices. It is possible that the price of a tour may vary at any time before Safaris R Us Ltd has accepted a booking from you, or they may be varied after your booking is made. For example, the Tanzanian National Parks Authority has been known to increase park fees at a moment’s notice. While we cannot guarantee the quoted prices, we will advise you of any changes. Should the variation be in excess of 10% of the holiday cost the client will have the right to a refund of all monies paid.
Alteration to a confirmed booking. No credit or refund can be given for any unused services during the itinerary. If the clients alters their travel arrangements prior to arrival in Tanzania, Safaris R Us Ltd will not be responsible for any extra cost or difficulties that may arise with onward travel as a result of such alterations.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be received in writing by emailing us at info@safaris-r-us.com . We are a long haul destination and most of our safaris are booked between four to six months before departure. All suppliers charge cancellation fees, which they in turn pass on to us. Therefore reservations that are cancelled reduced in length of stay or in number of people, are subject to cancellation fees.
If you must cancel before your trip, your money will be returned, less the cancellation fees (below).
Following is the scale for cancellation charges:
- 20% (of the total cost of the trip) if made more than 60 days prior to arrival date of which your tour was going to start.
- 50% (of the total cost of the trip) if cancelled between 31 and 60 days prior to arrival date of which your tour was going to start.
- 75% (of the total cost of the trip) if cancelled between 15 and 30 days prior to arrival date of which your tour was going to start.
- 100% (the total cost of the trip) if cancelled 14 days prior to arrival date of which your tour was going to start.
Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel a tour for any reason, we will, where possible, offer you the choice of an alternative arrangement, or you will receive a full refund. We will inform you about any cancellations as early as possible and at the latest 10 days before the commencement of the tour and safari.
No refunds are given for lost travel time or substitution of facilities, for itineraries amended after departure or for circumstances arising beyond the control of Safaris R Us.
If you do not appear for any accommodation, service, sightseeing or trip segment; or if you leave your program after it has begun, miss scheduled sightseeing activities, meals, or accommodations, there will be no refund.
