The history of Zanzibar would not be complete without the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper and many other spices which brought the Sultans of Oman. The Spice Tour does not only involve spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine, cosmetics and cooking.
Upon arrival at the local spice farm, you and your Zanzibarian guide will be met by a local farm worker who will take you on a tour through the many herb and spice plants which are grown onsite.
In addition to sharing his vast knowledge of the plants (as well as quizzing your own knowledge!), he will make personal decorations suited for the ladies and gentleman on the tour (including rings, necklaces, ties, hats and more). After the Spice Tour is complete, you will be given the option of purchasing spice packets, oils and soaps which have been locally made, then finally provided with a large, traditional meal which has been cooked using the many different herbs and spices you just learned about!
