Plantation Lodge is all about peace, rest, and relaxation. The lodge is located outside the Crater gates, at the end of a dirt road in the middle of a beautiful coffee farm. The lodge’s 16 rooms are spread throughout the flowering garden, each one boasting its own style and tasteful design.
The lodge is ideal for guests who are going to or coming from the Ngorongoro Crater, or for those who prefer a quieter retreat away from the crowds.
“This lodge is very different from the other places we stayed at during our safari. It is located near Karatu town, so is not surrounded by wildlife, and you don’t get the “wilderness” feeling at all. However, this lodge has many redeeming features. First of all, the surroundings of the coffee plantation are very nice – extremely tranquil. The gardens of the lodge itself are also immaculately kept. The room was huge, the bed extremely comfortable and the bathroom very well appointed. We all loved the bar, which was very classy but still inviting and somehow homely. Dinner and breakfast were both great. You have your own table throughout your stay. Dinner was three-course – plenty of food and all delicious. Breakfast was a good variety of cooked dishes, as well as muesli, yogurt, fruit, and juice. The coffee was fresh and strong.”
At the end of the lodge, garden is a pool that overlooks the valleys below and is a welcome relief after a long day of game viewing.
