Kholle House is a recently restored 10 room luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Stone Town. The house was built back in 1860 and was owned by Princess Kholle, the daughter of the first Sultan of Zanzibar. It is only a 5-minute walk from the wharf (where the ferries come and go from Dar es Salaam), and a 20-minute drive from the International Airport. Many restaurants and bars are also within walking distance of the hotel.
Each of the 10 guest rooms is uniquely designed with a combination of contemporary and antique furnishings and like all other areas of the hotel, is rich in history and colour. Guest rooms have mosquito nets, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and en-suite bathrooms. Guests have a choice between double and a single room (no twins nor triples are available). Features of Kholle House are its exotic archways, lobby, pool and rooftop tea house which provides panoramic views over Stone Town, the shipping port, and surrounding smaller islands.
