Elephant Orphanage

Established in 1977, the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage is a must-do while in Nairobi. This wildlife trust was made in memory of the late David Sheldrick, who spent his whole life dedicated to saving orphaned elephants and black rhinos. Most of the elephants in this orphanage lost their mothers due to poaching, so during the night they sleep inside dorm-like rooms with their caretakers, and during the day they run around enjoying their milk, playing with each other and bathing in the mud. The park is open everyday for only one hour from 11am until noon.

If you would like to get up close to these incredible animals during your time in Kenya let us know and we can include a visit to the orphanage in your itinerary.
